Duties & Responsibilities
Summary:
Reporting to the Senior Executive Director, Principal Gifts, UDO, and working closely with the team's senior leaders and front-line fundraisers, the assistant director is responsible for developing and maintaining the prospect/donor pipeline for University Principal Gifts, including monitoring progress towards securing individual gifts and meeting collective fundraising goals. Working in close collaboration with the UDO Operations and FAS Prospect Management teams, the assistant director will lead the Principal Gifts prospect review, ensure data is aligned with processes in place, and that our team is focused on the priority prospects and donors.

Projects include managing the pipeline of priority principal gifts prospects for post-campaign focus, organizing a systematic series of strategy conversations, developing/collecting the relevant supporting materials, and tracking next steps and outcomes.

The Assistant Director will also contribute to the team's principal gifts prospect strategy efforts, in partnership with the Sr. Executive Director. He/she will develop an overall annual plan for team meetings an all related material for each meeting; identify names and develop relevant materials for university prospect strategy meetings; and drive the increased use of data to inform our work.

As we move toward a strong finish to The Harvard Campaign and the transition to the post-campaign period, the Assistant Director will work with the UDO principal gifts team as a whole and teams across AA&D to enhance and best utilize our systems to track progress against goals. He/She ensures that next steps for prospect engagement are captured and are moving forward. This includes tracking the following: UDO principal gifts prospects pipelines; action steps with prospects and fundraising related activities; fundraising activity in support of specific University priorities; and volunteer engagement to lead to new prospect identification and engagement. The Assistant Director is responsible for leveraging the team's coordinators and staff assistants to enter data in Advance to accurately reflect these pipelines, and utilizing the Operations team, as needed, to assist with data integrity and presenting a range of metrics related to UDO principal gift prospects and donors.


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with a minimum of 4 years related work experience required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills required.
  • Familiarity with basic fundraising principles and strategies.
