Associate Professor, Film and Video

Columbus College of Art & Design invites applications for a full-time Associate Professor appointment in the Film and Video program. The ideal candidate is a dynamic and engaged professional with significant professional film and video experience, has a connected network of industry professionals, and who is energized by the challenge and promise of building on an established program.  The successful candidate will work closely with program chairs and with upper administration to further strengthen the vision and curriculum in the Film and Video program, and specifically work with the Photography and Animation program chairs to create shared programming and experiences.  CCAD seeks a candidate who is able to collaboratively engage with faculty and mentor students.  The college is looking for an individual who understands the importance of creativity for commerce as well as culture, and the value of strong business and narrative skills. Industry experience is essential and academic teaching experience is required.

CCAD prepares students to becoming contributing members of the moving image professional community and this position requires a teaching professional well-versed in digital, traditional, and emerging motion picture technologies as well as industry production practices. The successful candidate will have the ability to teach a broad range of courses at all levels such as introductory courses; advanced projects; production and directing courses; cinematography and lighting; editing, production design and storyboarding, motion graphics, visual effects, sound design, experimental and documentary film, and senior thesis.  

As the landscape for the production of motion picture imagery is continually evolving it is important that viable candidates possess a broad range of skills and experiences. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership skills; show initiative, dependability, empathy and reliability. In addition, the candidate will possess the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.

Qualifications: Terminal degree in Film, Video or related field, professional experience and minimum six years of college level teaching experience.
