Responsibilities:

UL is seeking a top tier candidate for an Audio Test Technician role. The position will be working primarily in the UL Innovations department on Audio Performance and Verification testing. The Audio Test Technician will be responsible for coordinating and executing test plans on various audio devices, documenting results for each audio test case, and reporting results to the Innovations team quickly and accurately. The ideal candidate will be able to develop and recommend appropriate test cases for audio performance verification.

  • Follows basically defined test plans and datasheets. Evaluates test performance and sample operation to properly evaluate test results. Records and explains test results and completes test report.
  • Examines less complex customer samples and learns to operate appropriate tests for each case. Communicates with customers during setup and operation to ensure proper evaluation.
  • Reads and understands specific test standards and testing technology for scope of responsibility.
  • Operates and maintains simple test equipment appropriately to measure and test customer samples. Performs simple maintenance on designated test equipment and laboratory area. May perform basic calibration of test equipment.
  • Operates with minimal supervision within defined limits of responsibility.
  • Integrates basic continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job. Communicates with management and technical staff to provide suggestions for new equipment, processes, and forms to improve accuracy and efficiencies.
  • Performs other duties as directed.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Acoustic, Electrical, or Audio Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Experience with audio editing software such as Pro Tools or equivalent DAW
  • Experience with audio measurement systems, such as Brüel & Kjær, HeadAcoustics, G.R.A.S, or Audio Precision preferred
  • Experience with telecom audio quality testing and standards
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong knowledge in acoustics
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Ability to work in a fast paced professional environment
