Foundation - Senior Development Officer (SDO), Roseville

POSITION SUMMARY\:

 

The Senior Development Officer (SDO) will cultivate, solicit and steward major and planned giving prospects/donors with a capacity to make a gift of $5,000 or more.  These will include business owners, executives, physicians, community, and philanthropic leaders.  SDO will be directly responsible for 100 to 150 prospects/donors and annual revenue of $1 million or more – increasing during tenure with SAFHF.  Solicitations will be directed toward high priority hospital projects for building, equipment, programmatic and endowment needs. 

 

SDO will actively team with other development staff including other Development Officers, Directors and the Vice President Philanthropy and the entire philanthropy team.  SDO will be primarily responsible for specific hospital service lines as well as other high priority projects.  SDO will generate and follow-through with complex solicitation plans\: develop a case for support; identify and recruit a compelling solicitation team of physicians, volunteers and senior executives -- in collaboration with Director and development staff.  Teamwork and collaboration within SAFHF as well as with other Sutter Health foundations is required.

It is the responsibility of the SDO to regularly update donor database records for assigned donors/prospects as interactions occur.

Qualification:

MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS\:

·         Education\:

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

 

·         Experience\:

Five years as a major gifts officer for an established non-profit institution with experience solely focused on major gift solicitations of $5,000 or more.  A track record of results showing funds raised of $1 million annually.  Hospital or university experience strongly preferred.

 

·         Knowledge\:

v  Highly sophisticated understanding of and experience with all aspects of the cultivation and solicitation cycle including moves management.

v  Strategic planning for individual prospects to include cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, etc.

v  Experience personally asking for gifts.

v  Knowledge of Placer community preferred. 

v  Excellent written and oral communication skills.

v  Track record of successfully managing current and prospective donors at the major gifts level ($5,000 or greater).

v  Ambitious and motivated professional who values a collaborative working environment; outstanding social skills, instinct and judgment.

v  Able to establish strong interpersonal relationships with donors, foundation trustees, development staff, senior leadership and physicians.

v  Maturity and integrity required.

 

 ·         Special Skills/Equipment\:

Comfortable working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and a gift-tracking database program.
