Senior Sponsored Programs Administrator
Harvard Kennedy School

Duties & Responsibilities
Harvard Kennedy School (HKS) is a graduate and professional school that brings together students, scholars and practitioners who combine thought and action to make the world a better place. We believe that smart public policy and inspired public leadership can make people's lives safer, more prosperous, and more fulfilling. HKS teaches current and future leaders the skills they need to be effective in the private, public and nonprofit sectors, and our renowned faculty and trailblazing research centers pioneer bold new ideas. Our research centers focus on a range of policy issues, including democratic governance; international security and diplomacy; human rights; media and politics; criminal justice; gender bias; local, state and international affairs, and more. The Senior Sponsored Programs Administrator position provides an excellent opportunity to join a team of responsive, engaged research administration experts who are integrally involved in building the portfolio of research programs at Harvard's cutting edge school of public policy.

The HKS Research Administration Office (RAO) is a customer service unit that manages school-wide support for all faculty sponsored programs activity (externally funded grants and contracts), including pre-award proposal review and approval and post-award financial and reporting support. The RAO provides a range of other services in support of faculty research and engagement initiatives, including oversight of a subset of restricted gift proposal reviews, risk assessment and compliance consulting, assistance with funding searches and research development, and wide dissemination of faculty research output.

The Senior Sponsored Programs Administrator position plays a central role in the delivery of RAO services, which encompass the entire grant management lifecycle from proposal development to project implementation to dissemination of results. With limited supervision, the Senior Sponsored Programs Administrator manages (1) the strategic review and approval of sponsored grant and contract proposals and (2) a subset of post-award monitoring and reporting activities, to ensure compliance with HKS, Harvard University, and sponsor policies. Responsible for a portfolio of HKS research centers, this position serves as a central liaison between HKS faculty/staff and Harvard's central offices, including the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP), Office of the Vice Provost for Research (OVPR), Office of the General Council (OGC), and Risk Management and Audit Services (RMAS).
