Schedule: Hours vary, but generally Tuesdays and Thursdays between 8 am- 6 pm; Fridays 8 am- 12 pm; the last Saturday of each month for 3 hours.

Job Description:

1) Advises students regarding matters related to assigned functional area, and performs related responsibilities to support students during their college careers.

2) Performs various administrative responsibilities related to and in support of advising functional assignment.

3) Maintains confidentiality of student records and other confidential or sensitive information.

4) Works assigned schedule exhibits regular and predictable attendance and works outside of normal schedule as needed to meet workload demands.

5) Performs other related duties as required.

Usual Physical Demands: The incumbent of this position typically exhibits the physical demands identified in the Functional Job Analysis on file in the College's Human Resources Department and which is periodically reviewed and updated. Physical demands listed in the Functional Job Analysis are not job qualification standards, but are used to help the College assess and determine reasonable accommodations for otherwise qualified individuals covered by the American's with Disabilities Act.

While performing duties of this job, the employee regularly exhibits digital dexterity when entering data into computer. The employee frequently sits for extended periods of time, and occasionally stands and walks. Employee converses verbally with others in person and by telephone. Vision demands include close, relatively detailed vision when focusing on a computer screen. The employee occasionally lifts or exerts force of up to 10 pounds when moving boxes, and other materials.

Working Conditions: Normal office working conditions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of: college student development; academic assessment and advising practices; career guiding; processes and practices related to assigned functional area. Skill in: maintaining documentation and records; operation of job-related equipment and other equipment; application of job related computer software. Ability to: maintain confidential and sensitive information; develop and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, students, general public, and other job contacts; effectively work with persons of varying cultures and diversity.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's Degree in counseling or closely related field of study and at least one year experience in the assigned functional area. State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).

Preferred Qualifications: At least two years' experience advising college students through degree attainment.
