Job Summary

Responsible for administration and analytical duties relating to health and welfare plans. Interface with benefit carriers, field HR, employees, and retirees. Ensure legal compliance; assist with annual enrollment communication development, as needed; participate in surveys and administrative duties as assigned.

Health & Welfare Plans:
  • Process invoices for payment and oversee eligibility requirements
  • Prepare accounting and statistical spreadshseets for various benefit plans
  • Administer the COBRA files and data, including enrollments, payments, and monthly reconciliation
  • Administer ACA files and data, including enrollment corrections and monthly reporting requirements
  • Administer the LTD benefit program
  • Reconcile benefit plan enrollment reports with HRIS vendor, resolve discrepancies, and document per SOX requirements
  • Preparation of FAS112 Quarterly and Annual Reporting Spreadsheets
  • Review and update plan documents, contracts, SPDs, SARs, and other required notifications
  • Assist employeesand retirees with questions an dclaims resolution
  • Administer and assist with internal processing of ADP Dependent and Tobacco Verification Services
  • Administer, oversight, and update systems to reflect the approved Evidence of Insurability applications
  • Process life claims for employees and retirees
  • Calculate and update LTD benefit balances annually for Executives, Non-Executives and Energy Services Commission employees
  • Research and update databases with address changes
  • Back-up support for 401(k) and Pension administration

Annual Projects:
  • Annual Enrollment
  • Audits of H&W Plans
  • Participate in design and creation of annual enrollment materials
  • Assist with implementation of vendor system platforms

Wellness Program:
  • Communicate and support the wellness program for all UGI locations
  • Participate as member of the wellness committee

Liaison with Payroll and HRIS:
  • Report development, system changes required due to new or revised benefit plans, data requirements, administrative procedures, the establishment of new companies, electronic carrier/vendor reporting, etc.

  • SOX: Monitor, support and perform the necessary tasks to ensure that the Benefits Administration department is in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley.
  • Union Negotiations: Provide support as needed for benefit discussions and data.
  • Acquisitions: Manage assimilation of acquired employees including duplication of union benefits.
  • Special Projects: Such as wellness programs, eligibility and claims audits, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills
  • Solid knowledge of government regulations, policies, and guidelines along with up-to-date knowledge on trends in benefits
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Advanced MicroSoft Office skills - Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Familiarity with ADP and other HRIS systems
