Job Description:

Distinguishing Job Characteristics:

Completes campus moves, executes event set-ups according to the design/layout, and serves on-call for snow removal and other emergencies

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Fulfills work orders and submits completed works orders accurately and promptly.

2. Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and predictable attendance and works overtime as required to meet workload demands.

3. Moves office and conference room furniture, such as desks, chairs, cabinets, bookcases, etc. within rooms, between buildings, regional learning centers and campuses.

4. Replaces, removes or reorganizes classroom and lobby furnishings on campus and at off-campus sites.

5. Moves items such as stage, tables and chairs in support of event set-ups for campus meetings, classroom activities, public events, or conferences.

6. Ensures cleanliness and appearance of facilities by monitoring classrooms, offices, lobbies, restrooms and secured administrative areas.

7. Locates and removes any unsightly markings, stickers, decals, advertisement or graffiti.

8. Reports visible damages in areas of building to include wall, ceiling, stairwells and floor.

9. Reports unsafe, abnormal or destructive use of buildings, classrooms, lobbies and their contents to public safety.

10. Performs safe clean-up, removal, and disposal of blood borne pathogens and other infectious or hazardous materials.

11. Responds and performs emergency cleanup related to weather emergencies.

12. Drives campus vehicles to pick-up and deliver supplies, furniture and other equipment

13. Operates fork-lift to move and relocate heavy furnishings or equipment.

14. Clears walks and stairs of ice and snow. Shovels and applies calcium and salt to area. Sweeps debris or snow from entrances and exits.

15. Maintains cleanliness of department vehicles and equipment and returns equipment to storeroom immediately after use.

16. May support parking operations with lot setups, closures, and staffing as needed.

17. Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

Good working conditions but with regular exposure to dirt, dust, debris, smells and various cleaning agents and chemicals. Employee is regularly exposed to wet, humid or other outdoor weather conditions. Employee is regularly exposed to minor cuts, burns or other situations that may cause injury with occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock. Employee may experience regular exposure to work in high, precarious places. Employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic materials with regular exposure to bloodborne pathogens.

While performing duties of this job, the employee frequently stands and walks and uses hands to hold and control tools and equipment. The employee regularly reaches with hands and arms, and stoops, kneels, crouches and crawls. The employee exhibits usual vision demands, with little or no detail or long distance requirements. The employee may occasionally move chairs, tables and other furniture of standard size and weight and may walk on wet or slippery floors. Employee occasionally lifts or exerts force on items, with varying weights of more than 50 pounds.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of: standard custodial methods, materials, equipment and supplies; common safety practices. Skill in: verbal communications; operation of vacuum cleaner, buffer, and other custodial equipment. Ability to: understand and follow general instructions; perform manual labor for extended periods of time; lift and carry furniture with varying weights; develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, supervisors, job contacts and general public; identify areas in need of custodial and maintenance work; maintain accurate and complete work records.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED with at least six months closely related work experience. Possession of or ability to obtain forklift operator certification. State Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
