Controller, Foundation

Job Description
The Controller, Foundation, is responsible for managing cash and investments of the University of Reno, Foundation in excess of $300 million. The Controller is responsible for the financial, endowment, and investment reporting for the Foundation and all related 501(c) (3)'s. The individual in this position will ensure the fulfillment of the fiduciary responsibility of the Foundation to the donors, Board of Trustees, the University of Nevada, Reno and the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE). The Controller is responsible for compliance with all federal, state, foundation, university and NSHE requirements, standard practices and policies, as well as ensuring financial reports accurately reflect the activity of 3,800 fund accounts within the organization. This individual supervises both professional and classified accounting /finance staff and reports to the Associate Vice President, Finance & Operations/Treasurer of the University of Nevada, Reno Foundation.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years or a Master’s Degree and 3 years of related professional work experience.  Related Experience: Progressively responsible experience in the areas of financial accounting and reporting, management, tax return preparation, cash management and computer systems, and auditing in a public or governmental accounting environment.  Two years of experience must include supervisory duties.  Must be a Certified Public Accountant.

Experience working in either a public accounting firm or a governmental agency
Salary is competitive and commensurate with education and related experience
