Position Summary:

The Center for International Development (CID) at Harvard University is a university-wide center that works to advance the understanding of development challenges and offer viable solutions to problems of global poverty. General Purpose:

The Outreach and Events Manager is responsible for the strategic planning, development and execution of the center's outreach and events agenda to support the dissemination of CID's research to a broad and diverse audience; s/he is responsible for the management and care of CID's stakeholder groups and will oversee CID's reach to current and new stakeholder groups. The Outreach and Events Manager will work closely with CID's communication Manager.

Position responsibilities:

Outreach and Events

The Outreach and Events Manager will work closely with the center Director, Executive Director, center staff and affiliated faculty in identifying and recommending ways to increase the center's global reach through existing and new communication platforms, initiatives and events. S/he will be responsible for the strategy and implementation of 80+ annual events. Specifically this person will:

  • Recommend outreach strategy for various CID stakeholder groups; execute plans, measure impact and identify new platforms and initiatives to increase the center's reach. Manage outreach to all CID stakeholder groups, including internal and external groups, executing our plans and identifying new platforms and initiatives to increase the center's reach;
  • As CID works with the HKS Alumni Relations and Resource Development (AARD) to establish a new stakeholder group, the Outreach and Events Manager will be responsible for developing outreach and partner relations efforts; Create outreach activities and processes to insure the institutional relationships are properly acknowledged and nurtured.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and minimum 5 years of direct experience in program development and outreach planning. Demonstrated experience leading teams or managing individuals. Experience initiating, fostering, interacting with, and maintaining high-level relationships (faculty, clients, leaders in the public and private sector, students and other individuals/groups).
