Duties & Responsibilities
The FAS HR Consultant provides human resources consulting services in the key areas of employee relations, organizational assessments, change management initiatives, brokerage of recruitment services, compensation, training and professional development strategies, diversity initiatives, and efforts related to providing support to designated groups within FAS.

  • Actively partners with managers, staff and bargaining unit representatives to address a variety of workplace issues in a strategic way that provides tangible value to designated portfolios. This position facilitates a high level of HR problem solving and maintains an equally high level of customer satisfaction. Demonstrates solid understanding of the operations of designated client groups as well as the needs and challenges of managers and staff.
  • Understands and facilitates change management and organization development strategies. Influences and assists organizational change initiatives in support of client strategies. In addition, the HR Consultant supports managers in forecasting and planning talent pipeline requirements in line with their department strategy. Implements effective performance management to create and sustain a high performance workforce. Ensures that a strong leadership and coaching culture are prevalent within the designated FAS groups.
  • Helps department leaders and managers to provide employees with development opportunities and ensure that they are able to meet current and future performance standards. Provides appropriate and effective advice and coaching to employees as needed. Understands employee perspectives and anticipates their needs and concerns. Identifies new opportunities where HR can add value to the FAS business.
  • Consults and advises with managers on the development and classification of new positions, job grading, reclassifications, market and equity reviews, FLSA classification, and wage and salary administration
  • Participates on University wide committees and on special projects
  • Maintains current knowledge of progressive HR practices and key trends. Effectively implements the delivery of HR programs initiated by FAS HR. Understands need and how to use data to help leaders make informed decisions. Understands all HR Services being developed and works to broker those services as appropriate. Participates in all HR team operations and round-table meetings and other projects/duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of professional experience in a multi-discipline Human Resources environment (examples include HR administration, recruitment, training, compensation, benefits and performance management).
