Practice Management Associate - Private Wealth Management

Our Private Wealth Management division is seeking a member for its PWM Business Development Consulting team. The PWM Business Development Consulting team is an established group with a mission to grow revenues and improve profitability by acting as an internal 'management consultant' to Branch Office Managers, Financial Advisors and, to a lesser degree, Client Specialists.

Acting as a resource to the Business Development Consulting team, the Associate will play an important and highly visible role supporting the Consultants in their efforts to serve advisors in one or more of the following areas:

1. Investment and product solutions
2. New business development processes and tactics
3. Client service model development and implementation
4. Practice management solutions - the business of running a practice

As a Practice Management Associate you will:
  • Follow up with an Advisor soon after his/her meeting or interaction with a Business Development Consultant to maintain the momentum created by the meeting. This is achieved by phone or email and often requires the provision of relevant information, advice, or guidance, addressing questions, etc.
  • Schedule and record interactions in CRM, assigning follow up back to the Business Development Consultant or to one's self.
  • Collaborate with the Consultants on pre-meeting strategy and preparations to enable the highest quality and most relevant meetings with Advisors.
  • Manage, and ideally improve on, an array of reporting tools and databases used in reporting on the group's performance both within the team and to stakeholders such as PWM Leadership and Research, Products & Services leaders.
  • Proactively generate ideas that link strategies to relevant tactics which Advisors may utilize to generate more business and/or improve client outcomes.
  • Take a lead role in proactively supporting select Advisors and branches with business development ideas and advice.
  • Support or lead in the execution of various meetings including regional events, client / prospect events, or workshops. Such efforts will likely include working directly with product providers, such as mutual fund companies, investment managers, alternative investment providers and insurance and annuity providers.
  • Act as a liaison with internal partners in Research, Products & Services as well as Operations, Fee Based Administration, Event Planning, etc.
  • Over time, a successful Practice Management Associate will be expected to proactively generate ideas for the team and travel modestly to branch offices to help advisors and managers in person.

What makes this opportunity great:
  • This position is located in our Dallas, TX Branch working closely with the Business Development Consulting Manager, allowing for training and development.
  • Ability to travel a few times per year to some of the branches you work with as well as Baird's Corporate Office in Milwaukee, WI.
  • Ability to work a variety of teams and leaders, proving your ability to be flexible and high adaptable
  • Fast paced environment that will enable you to grow as a professional

What we look for:
  • Bachelor's degree required. 7+ years' experience in the financial services industry preferred.
  • Attainment of, or demonstrated progress towards the CFP, CIMA, or CFA designations is highly valued.
  • Series 7/66 licensing required.
  • Ability to be highly influential using strong fact-based arguments without the benefit of positional power.
  • Solid understanding of how a financial advisory practice functions.
  • Strong service orientation as well as knowledge and understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by financial advisors.
  • Comfort with ambiguity as well as strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge of various investment and planning products and services used by advisors.
  • Goal oriented - ability to maintain focus on a small number of long-term, high impact priorities.
  • Comfort and proficiency with Excel, CRM and other database related applications.
