Due to continued success and growth in the region, we have an immediate requirement for a Project Accountant to join our team based in our San Marcos Office. This pivotal role will play will be key in the success of our landmark civil infrastructure projects. Responsibilities will include job cost accounting, financial accounting, subcontract administration, third-party accounts receivable and trade payables.

  • Audit, log and enter budget revisions requests
  • Audit owner change orders and subcontract change orders and verify against related change orders
  • Assist in the auditing and entry of job cost journal entries in JD Edwards as directed by the Project Manager
  • Assist and prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports for the district
  • Review owner's contract for specifications/inclusions and create/update project templates
  • Obtain and track bonds as required
  • Create billings, maintain tracking log, complete releases and make collection calls as needed
  • Assist in reviewing all accounts payable checks
  • Prepare and maintain the Business License renewal process for all project requirements; including maintenance of License tracking log and prepare local tax filings
  • Review and approve Subcontractor payment applications, supporting documents in order to release payments on projects
  • Verification of Insurance requirements and Certified Payroll compliance
  • Special Projects and additional requirements as required by management

  • High School Diploma or GED and 1-3 years related experience and/or training
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related area of study highly regarded
  • Heavy Civil Construction Accounting experience strongly preferred
  • Intermediate/advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat
  • JD Edwards experience a plus
  • Team player with strong communication skills
