Description

As Quality Engineer on our California High Speed Rail CP 2-3 project you will be initially based out of our Selma, CA project office and play a key role in the project's successful execution. Ideally you will have had experience working on similar capacity major civil infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Inspect or oversee inspection and testing of the work in a variety of areas
• At the direction of the Construction Quality Control Manager (CQCM), inspect aspects of the work in which he/she is qualified under the appropriate inspection process
• Prepare inspection reports to document inspection and Quality Control of materials installed on site
• Provide acceptance sampling and testing, to confirm work is in conformance with contract documents
• Provide Quality Control inspection for acceptance of work required to be visually inspected and accepted
• Perform system verification on completed systems to assure correct installation per design specifications
• Submit documentation to the CQCM on a daily basis
• Assist the CQCM review construction methodology for compliance to the applicable codes, standards and specifications
• Perform additional assignments per supervisor's directions (repeat of line five points below?)
• Verify that all work has been constructed in general conformance to the specifications
• May perform on-site material sampling and testing at the point of acceptance to ensure the minimum frequencies outlined in the specifications are met
• Maintains knowledge of Flatiron's company values and strategic plan
• Support published corporate policies
• Perform additional assignments per management's direction
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field from an accredited institution and 2 or more years of related experience
• Or 10 years construction engineering related experience and/or training
• Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 quality management systems will be highly regarded
• Demonstrated experience in quality control processes
• Demonstrated experience in working collaboratively with a team of quality control staff and reporting on quality issues
• Knowledge and experience with design and construction quality control
• Knowledge and experience with nationally recognized standards; ASTM International, American Welding Society (AWS), American Concrete Institute (ACI), and American National Standards Institute (ANSI) as examples.
• Knowledge and experience with Caltrans; Standard Specifications, Standard Drawings, and Special Provisions.
