Schedule: M-F, 8am-5pm and hours outside normal working schedule as necessary.

Job Description:

Maintains and administers enterprise databases to ensure that the College's administrative computer systems are functional, operational, and continue to meet growing and changing needs. Monitors and integrates new technological advancements into database technologies.The system administrator may be required to serve on On-Call/On-Duty rotations for after-hours support - 24/7 availability during rotation.

1. Responsible for the administration of Microsoft SQL Server (Database Engine and Analysis Services) and associated support tools.

2. Provide support for SQL Server Reporting Services in SharePoint mode (Power Pivot and BI Services).

3. Provides level II technical support to the campus community.

4. Responsible for disaster and operational recovery plan development, implementation, testing and recovery of assigned database environments.

5. Responsible for operational data stores, data repositories, data marts, data storage, data pumps and data interfaces.

6. Responsible for the administration of database security and vulnerability remediation.

7. Makes recommendations on hardware and software configurations, and participates in the planning process to meet assigned short and long term objectives.

8. Makes recommendations on tools, standards, processes and best practices for database systems.

9. Assists other systems administrators and engineers, software developers and business analysts to determine database needs, including requirements analysis, performance levels for peak and non-peak utilization, query design and programming.

10. Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and predictable attendance. Works overtime and on-duty time as required to meet workload demands.

While performing duties of this job, the employee regularly exhibits digital dexterity when entering data into computer. The employee regularly sits for extended periods of time, and occasionally stands and walks. The employee occasionally uses hands to hold and operate tools and reaches with hands or arms and stoops, kneels, crouches or crawls. Employee converses verbally with others in person. Vision demands
include close, relatively detailed vision when focusing on a computer screen. Employee occasionally lifts or exerts force of varying weights up to 50 pounds.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of: system administration, database systems, data flow, data security, disaster recovery planning and recovery theory, information security, T-SQL, database programmability (T-SQL functions, procedures, triggers), data life cycle technical management, data warehousing and data marts, customer care principles, working in teams and project management practices. Ability to: develop new technical skills and apply skills to practical work situations; develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, vendors, students and other job contacts; handle multiple task and projects; manage time effectively; adapt to continuing technological changes; maintain confidential and sensitive information. Skill in: providing technical support; applying new technology to business applications; verbal and written communications; planning, scheduling and organizing work; PowerShell scripting; re-factoring code written in a variety of languages; Sharepoint PowerPivot and Reporting Services.

Minimum Qualifications: Associate's Degree in Computer Science or closely related field of study with a minimum 1 year of experience with database administration or High School diploma and a minimum 3 years of experience with database administration. State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or closely related field of study with a minimum 5 years of experience with database administration. System Administration Certification.
