Job Description:

Duties are numbered for convenience, and do not indicate order in terms of importance, frequency that the duty is performed, or the amount of time spent on the duty.

1. Assists students, staff, and faculty over the phone, in-person, instant messaging, and by e-mail with all CSCC IT related issues, providing training pertaining to systems accessed by all Columbus State users. Providing a support for the Blackboard, Cougarweb, Student, and Employee e-mail, and other related systems, software & hardware.

2. Works directly with other areas of IT when calls need to be escalated, obtaining, and reporting all related details available to the appropriate parties.

3. Processes outgoing requests to designated support groups on campus and monitors and maintains these requests as required Keeps accurate records.

4. Completes and maintains required documentation including activity logs, inventory tracking forms and work orders.

5. Demonstrates initiative in developing and maintaining good working relationships with end users and assets (e.g. other departments and individuals that the IT Support Center works with to resolve issues).

6. Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and predictable attendance and works overtime as required meeting workload demands.

7. Provides computer and audio visual services and completes work orders. Installs hardware, software, printers and other equipment. Moves or replaces inefficient or inoperative equipment, images, hard drives and laptops; transfers user files and other duties.

8. Maintains IT equipment through regularly scheduled quality control tasks.

9. Maintains data and computer security. Backs-up data files, anchors equipment, tracks and verifies purchase orders and serial numbers and monitors inventory.

10. Repairs IT equipment during maintenance efforts and in response to work orders or campus needs. Troubleshoots and re-configures IT equipment to meet the needs of administrators, staff, faculty or students.

11. Provides training in use of IT technology (laptops, desktop computers, etc.).

12. Participates in forecasting IT trends in technology through research, vendor relationships, industry publications and networking.

13. Assesses applications on campus and advises and supports implementation of these technologies in an effort to further the college mission.

14. Performs other related duties as required.

Usual Physical Demands: The incumbent of this position typically exhibits the physical demands identified in the Functional Job Analysis on file in the College's Human Resources Department and which is periodically reviewed and updated. While performing duties of this job, the employee regularly exhibits digital dexterity when entering data into computer. The employee regularly sits for extended periods of time, and occasionally stands and walks and uses hands to hold and control equipment and tools. The employee regularly reaches with hands and arms, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches or crawls. Employee regularly converses with others in person. Vision demands include close, relatively detailed vision when focusing on a computer screen. Employee lifts or exerts force of varying weight of up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions: Normal office working conditions. Employee is occasionally exposed to dirt, dust, debris, smells and outdoor weather conditions when moving or installing equipment. Employee is occasionally exposed to minor cuts, burns or other incapacitating injury and risk of electrical shock. Employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate's Degree in a technical field of study closely related to the function of the position. At least one year experience in a closely related technical field. State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).
