Overview
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the 2nd Shift Weld Supervisor is primarily responsible for overseeing a team of Welders; responsible for the managing the welders, assign tasks, and will support the overall operation by ensuring full utilization of the Welding department resources.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for production, quality, safety and customer satisfaction.
  • Supervising a team of welders and weld operators.
  • Perform hands-on welding as needed as needed.
  • Maintain and perform preventative maintenance on welding equipment.
  • Confer with management or subordinates to resolve worker problems, complaints.
  • Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
  • Confer with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.
  • Recommend or implement measures to motivate employees and to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, or efficiency.
  • Conduct employee training in equipment operations or work and safety procedures, or assign employee training to experienced workers.
  • Direct and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in the production of goods.
  • Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
  • Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals.
  • Keep records of employees' attendance and hours worked.
  • Ensure line associates follow established manufacturing process and meet production requirements.
  • Requisition materials, supplies, equipment parts, or repair services.
  • Observe work and monitor output to ensure that operators conform to production or processing standards.
  • Ensures adherence to company safety standards, policies and procedures.
  • Provide recommendations for correction or improvement as appropriate.
  • Promote a positive and growth/opportunity-oriented mindset among peers and any subordinates and work with HR.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Associates Degree with hands on experience in relative field of expertise
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience ideally in a metal fabrication shop
  • Must have welding experience (both MIG & TIG would be helpful); experience with programming robotic welders a plus.
  • Will order supplies, troubleshoot welding/production problems, perform welding tests for prospective welders, be active in producing prototype parts and fixtures, and respond to corrective actions from customers.
  • This is a working supervisor position and this person will be doing some production welding when needed.
  • Previous experience in Lean Manufacturing
  • Must be able to help in ALL areas of the weld department, when needed.
