Assistant Professor- Structural Biochemist The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry within the College of Science at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) is seeking applications for a tenure-track assistant professor faculty position in biochemistry pertaining to Structural Biology (cryo-EM). The successful candidate will be expected to bring a new dimension to the Department while complementing its existing strengths in both the interdisciplinary and traditional fields. The candidate should possess expertise in cryo-EM for elucidating the structure and function of biological macromolecular assemblies at atomic level resolution. This includes experience in protein purification, sample application to grids, hands on experience with an electron microscope, and extensive experience in data processing for cryo-EM reconstruction as demonstrated with first author publications indicating expertise in the application of cryo-EM methodology. A successful candidate is expected to actively engage at a departmental level through curricular development activities, lead the expansion of the program through collaborations with other faculty, and attract external funding at levels needed to build and sustain his/her research program. Assistant/Associate Professor in Social Work The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) College of Health Sciences invites nominations and applications for a full-time tenured/tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Social Work. This is a 9-month appointment with potential for summer teaching. The successful applicant will be a licensed social worker (LMSW, LCSW, LCSW-S) with an academic doctorate (preferably PhD) in social work or a related field. Required Qualifications: Education: Master's Degree and Experience: 5 (Five) years of progressively responsible leadership in student financial services (financial aid, scholarships, and/or financial literacy) in a higher education setting Demonstrated successful experience in leading a student financial service operation in a higher education setting Extensive knowledge of financial award processes and regulations including knowledge of military benefits, Title IV, and resources for international students Ability to navigate and resolve financial aid compliance issues Ability to analyze and interpret federal and state regulations, professional and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written Demonstrated experience in working with students and families to create financial options that meet students' needs Proficient technical skills in data management, data processing concepts, and student information systems Proven track-record as a role model in customer service 3 (Three) years of experience supervising and leading staff members Preferred Qualifications: Doctoral degree Spanish fluency 8 (Eight) years of progressively responsible leadership in student financial services (financial aid, scholarships, and/or financial literacy) in a higher education setting Experience working with first generation students of low socioeconomic status 5 (Five) years of experience supervising and leading staff members Experience with Banner Student Information System and record imaging systems Additional Information The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
