Job Summary UK HealthCare EmPATH (Emergency Psychiatric Assessment, Treatment, &amp; Healing) Psychiatric Unit is a 12 bed open milieu providing specialized emergency/crisis care to behavioral health patients 18 years and older. This service will assist in decompressing the emergency departments and improving the quality and trauma-informed nature of crisis care at UK Healthcare. Behavioral health needs may include mental illness and substance use disorders, with a goal of quickly stabilizing the crisis and returning patients back to community supports with reduction in hospital use. This is an evidence-based model and the first EmPATH unit in Kentucky. The primary responsibilities for this position consist of providing total, comprehensive, continuous and patient centered behavioral health care which includes: assessing, documenting, planning, implementing, teaching, developing, and evaluating a comprehensive nursing plan of care; delivering direct patient care; ensuring patient satisfaction; training and delegating duties for Mental Health Associates (MHA); and adhering to University policies and procedures as well as federal, state and local regulations. Furthermore, this environment supports collaborative efforts among the nursing staff and the team of physicians to increase communication and enhance expected patient outcomes. This includes utilization of the nursing process in conjunction with a comprehensive patient-centered plan of care, ensuring patient satisfaction. Provides the highest standards of behavioral health nursing care to meet the growing need for available crisis services.
