Releases, even small ones, can endanger public health or the environment by making the water or air unsafe. Releases of hazardous materials can contaminate surface water, groundwater or soil, impact plants, fish and wildlife and their habitat or create unsafe exposure for the general public or emergency responders. The Emergency Response and Spill Prevention Division responds 24 hours per day to emergencies that result from accidental and deliberate discharges and uncontrolled releases of oil, petroleum, hazardous wastes, and chemicals to the air, land and waterways from roadway incidents, industrials processes, oil and chemical spills, failed tanks/pipes and abandoned drums as well as biological and chemical weapons. Whiting Forensic Hospital specializes in providing inpatient services to individuals involved in the criminal justice system. The hospital consists of 91 maximum security beds and 138 enhanced security beds. Job Summary Registered Nurses in the Chandler 5 Main Acute care area at UK Chandler Hospital provide care to adult patients with a wide range of medical / surgical conditions. The 5 Main Chandler Acute care unit provides acute, comprehensive inpatient care for patients suffering from a variety of medical diseases and surgical complications. As a part of this unit, the RN serves as an important component of the medical team. This team is responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of multiple medical and surgical disease complications.
