This position is part of Southern California Edison’s (SCE) Law Clerk Experience Program. Law clerks are expected to work forty hours per week during a 12-week period during the summer and an average of 15 hours per week for the rest of the school year. Responsibilities
The successful candidate will perform research on a variety of legal issues, and engage in writing memos, briefs, draft pleadings, and contract provisions at the direction of the supervising attorney; may attend departmental and client meetings, and other relevant meetings with supervising attorney(s). In addition, the successful candidate may assist in the representation of the Company on various matters, including in state and federal court, and advising client organizations in identifying and resolving legal, business and strategic issues related to general business issues, claims and liability. The successful candidate is also expected to maintain a safety conscious work environment by following Edison safety protocols and safe work practices and performing other responsibilities/duties as assigned. A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum qualifications
- Must be a law student entering their third year of law school, pursuing a Juris Doctorate (JD) in Law at an ABA accredited institution
- Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25/4.00 or higher
The preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience conducting efficient electronic and traditional research
- Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

- This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
