Job Summary

The Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food & Environment department of Plant & Soil Sciences is seeking a Department Manager to oversee the daily administrative operations of our large unit. The department of Plant & Soil Sciences supports missions in teaching, research & extension, as well as having broad areas of interest – crop science, environmental science, plant molecular biology and soil science. The Department Manager is a key member of the team. The position assists the Department Chair with faculty and staff performance evaluations, promotions and tenure, various approval processes, as well as all departmental annual reporting requirements. The position will also assist faculty coordinators of academic and extension programming in annual reporting, and help the Chair manage farm operations and workflow. The position will supervise other administrative personnel who are responsible for Department event management, social media, mail, etc. Knowledge of University reporting systems, SAP, UK portal is essential, as are strong leadership, team building, attention to detail, and excellent communication.
