Required Related Experience

The faculty member must have:

1. MD, DO, PhD or equivalent degree.

2. Board certification in Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology or PhD in an appropriate discipline

3. Board Certification by the American Society of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ASHI) with qualifications as a Laboratory Director, Technical Supervisor and Clinical Consultant for the subspecialty Histocompatibility, under the 2023 CLIA Final Rule in the following areas of accreditation: Solid Organ Transplantation: Live Donor, Solid Organ Transplantation: Deceased Donor, Hematopoietic Stem Cell/Bone Marrow Transplantation: Unrelated Donor

4. Licensed in Kentucky (for MD candidates)

5. Demonstrated ability in teaching students at all levels in an academic environment.

6. Knowledge of pathology and laboratory medicine practices in a variety of clinical, teaching and research environments.

7. Demonstrated interest and ability in scholarly activity evidenced by peer review publications.

Job Summary

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine is recruiting a clinical faculty member (MD or PhD)to serve as Director of the HLA/Tissue Typing Laboratory, which is ASHI accredited in HSC/BM Related and Unrelated Donor, Solid Organ Transplantation Deceased and Live Donor, and Histocompatibility Testing for Other Clinical Purposes. Academic rank, compensation and appointment type will be based on qualifications and experience. The successful candidate would join an academic hospital-based practice and engage primarily in clinical service and teaching duties. Interested applicants are also encouraged to participate in an active research program appropriate to title series and rank.



The department (https://medicine.uky.edu/departments/pathology/)is an integrated department of pathology with successful programs in anatomic and clinical pathology, a vibrant educational program for medical students, residents and fellows as well as a nationally-recognized research program in neuropathology and research affiliations with the Markey Cancer Center.
