Job Title: Associate Director, Financial Aid

Department:  Financial Aid

Job Purpose:

The Associate Director of Financial Aid (Advising) is responsible for providing the leadership and management skills necessary to administer financial aid program at TCS and its affiliates. This position will also work closely with Admissions and Student Support staff to provide counsel for upcoming starts and continuing students In addition, this individual supervises a group of Financial Aid Advisors and will be responsible for collaborating with other members of leadership within the Student Finance Team. This position reports to the Associate Vice President (AVP) of Financial Aid. Preference for location to be in Pacific Standard Time zone.

Position responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • ​ Provides leadership and management of professional staff of Financial Aid Advisors, in a contact center environment, including staffing and recruitment needs, employee development, performance accountability, and team morale.   ​​​
  • Serves a primary contact for affiliate locations and bi-weekly admissions meetings/reporting 
  • Maintain professional knowledge of all federal and state financial aid regulations and reporting requirements; assist in policy adaptation and managing the office in compliance with all such regulations and policies 
  • Hold bi-weekly 1-on-1’s with staff to review performance and receive updates on campus opportunities and events 
  • Responsible for supporting staffing needs for the team including interviewing candidates as well as onboarding new direct reports 
  • Manage receipt and processing of scholarships and grants 
  • Assist AVP of Financial Aid with expanding automation and management of financial aid operations through the utilization of the integrated student information system 
  • Manage/maintains disbursement schedules, phone reports, outstanding disbursements, and school program tracks for accurate awarding 
  • Other duties or special projects that may be assigned by the AVP of Financial Aid 

Required Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Excel and MS Word, and familiar with other financial aid software programs (Elm Resources, Ed express, Ed Connect, CVUE, COD). 
  • Strong knowledge of Title IV and financial regulations.

  • Strong time management skills. 
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment. 

Education: 

  • Must have obtained a bachelor's degree 

Experience: 

  • At least 5 years of financial aid experience as an Advisor/Counselor 
  • At least 2 years of experience in a centralized financial aid office operation. 

Certifications or Licensure:

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Prior management experience is strongly preferred 

Working Conditions: 

  • Must be able to work nights and weekends as needed  
  • Must be able to travel domestically up to 20% of the time 

Compensation & Benefits

This opportunity is budgeted at $70,000 - 74,00 base compensation. Additional compensation factors may impact total compensation.
