Job Summary

Howmet Aerospace has an immediate opening for a Bench Hand II at our Engines Products - Cleveland Operations Tempcraft facility located at 3960 S. Marginal Rd. in Cleveland. This position is responsible for the Benching/Polishing of Mold Cavities and Complex Hardened Steel Die Cavities for the Aerospace Industry.

We excel in vacuum melted superalloys, machining, performance coatings and hot isostatic pressing for high performance parts that enable the next generation of quieter, more fuel-efficient aero engines and cleaner power generation.

Job Responsibilities

Operates ultrasonic machine and benching/polish stones to remove EDM recast from hardened contour surfaces

Finishing of surfaces, including polishing of die details from rough benching through finish benching to meet customer surface finish requirements

Visually verifies contours and smoothness

Training of other bench hands

Continuous Improvement - Working with management and suppliers to improve the overall benching process through better stones and materials, as well as standardizing benching techniques

Job Specifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent of 5 years polishing molds
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Mold Polisher in Investment Casting Industry


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Tool Maker Journeyman
  • Experience in Precision Injection Mold polishing (Hardened materials)
  • Experience in the use of tool making machinery (Bridgeport, surface grinder, saw, etc...)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with the use of hand tools such as ultrasonic polishers, grinders and benching stones
