As the Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction to our engineering team.  You will play a pivotal role in fostering innovation, overseeing project development, and ensuring the streamlined operation of the engineering department. Your responsibilities encompass the operation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems, as well as the upkeep of fire life safety equipment throughout the Rose Quarter and Practice Facility. Your strategic direction and hands-on approach will be instrumental in maintaining the efficiency and functionality of critical systems within our facilities.

DAY-TO-DAY:

  • Oversee the engineering staff, ensuring the safety, efficiency, and optimal working conditions of the facilities within the Rose Quarter.
  • Manage contracted services and vendors to support the overall success of Rose Quarter's business operations.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of equipment operations and establish preventive maintenance programs for the entire facility.
  • Prioritizes work orders and sets up periodic maintenance activities.
  • Execute and oversee preventive maintenance initiatives to uphold the reliability and functionality of facility systems.
  • Monitors the quality of building operations and maintenance and evaluates the performance of staff through periodic inspections and on-site supervision.
  • Exercise fiscal responsibility by overseeing budget adherence for engineering-related expenditures.
  • Supervise the maintenance of the buildings' Fire Life safety equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Responsible for training, schedules and evaluation of full-time and part-time engineering staff. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the engineering team.
  • Complete maintenance and repair records as required. Reviews and assigns work orders. Estimates time and materials needed to complete repair. Orders necessary materials and supplies to complete all tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A combination of training and experience totaling at least 7 years in the maintenance and operation of major mechanical systems in large commercial, industrial, or governmental buildings, including at least one year in a lead or supervisory role. Completion of a State-approved Apprenticeship Program can substitute for some of the experience required.
  • Universal EPA certification
  • Maintain required electrical and refrigeration licenses.
  • Possess extensive knowledge of facility operating standards and building maintenance practices.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, adept in both technical and non-technical discussions.
  • Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of responsibility and authority.
  • Have experience with building automation and monitoring systems, as well as proficiency in Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) programs.
  • Have knowledge of buildings and event-related challenges to anticipate and address operational needs effectively.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously, ensuring efficient and timely completion.
  • Demonstrate highly effective supervisory skills, dealing constructively with human resource and personnel issues, conflict resolution, motivation, and providing counseling as needed.
  • Possess knowledge of budgeting principles and familiarity with asset management practices, contributing to effective fiscal management.
