Job Summary
The Clinical Documentation Specialists review physician documentation to identify the most appropriate DRG. When evidence supports additional diagnoses not documented in a manner that can be used in final ICD-10 codes, Clinical Documentation Specialists clarify with physician staff to make sure diagnoses are appropriately documented in the medical record. This function is vital to capture the most accurate clinical picture of severity of illness, risk of mortality, co-morbidities, and complications. This position also assists in the capture of present on admission diagnoses and early identification of PSI. This position impacts both the LOS and mortality O/E.
THIS POSITION IS HYBRID.

BSN and at least five years of nursing experience preferred.
