Physical Requirements

This position requires study coordination and interaction with research participants. Technical skills such as phlebotomy are preferred. Processing of blood, light lifting of packages, use of dry ice for packaging will be required.



Shift

Weekdays, typically 8:00am-5:00pm.



Job Summary

The Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) is seeking a highly motivated, professional Clinical Research Coordinator I to contribute to the variety of perspectives and excellence of our department and to assist the faculty and staff of our fast-paced research center. The CCTS supports campus research professionals to ensure they are able to meet their research goals and ultimately improve the health of our communities and populations. Our vision is to foster a community that guides and transforms our approaches to healthcare, education, research and community partnerships. We believe that the innovation, collaboration, and rigor that arise from bringing together different perspectives and ensuring fairness are essential to our mission of eliminating health disparities within the community.

Since its inception in 2006, the CCTS has invested millions of dollars into research funding and trainee support at the University of Kentucky through its commitment to funding innovative, early stage translational research. The CCTS’s vision is to catalyze clinical and translational discoveries through an integrated and transformative research environment targeting improved health, with emphasis on underserved populations in Kentucky. In support of that vision, the Clinical Research Coordinator I role will serve as a team member of the Clinical Research Unit.

Responsibilities for this position include the ability to develop familiarity with and ensure adherence to the ethical conduct of clinical research policies, IRB regulations, Human Subjects Protection (HSP), Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines, Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) and patient confidentiality (HIPAA). The employee will assist investigators to identify, screen, randomize and enroll patients according to sponsor specifications and GCP guidelines with oversight and coordinate flow of patient through clinical protocol, monitoring all events related to patient and communicating any pertinent information to PI and appropriate health professionals.

Successful candidates will possess attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to operate various office machines including computers, printers, and various software packages. Interpersonal skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Written and verbal communication skills. Initiative, collaboration, advanced time management skills. Technical skills applicable to essential functions and initiative. The CCTS is dedicated to broadening the range of perspectives within our staff and faculty and aims to build a team with an extensive spectrum of skills and experiences.
