POSITION SUMMARY

Rancher Government Solutions is seeking a Consulting Engineer with an active Top Secret Clearance to support our Department of Defense (DoD) agency customers. Our ideal candidate will have experience working with containers and Kubernetes, strong technical and communication skills, and an understanding of IT infrastructure, DevOps, open-source software, and/or application development. This role will also involve support for Harvester HCI, Longhorn storage, the Neuvector security platform and other SUSE Rancher software solutions. Candidates should possess experience with bare metal server and hypervisor administration, as well as the ability to multitask across multiple customer engagements. Consulting Engineers will work closely with federal customers to help them understand how to build and maintain the SUSE Rancher platform for their business, as part of Rancher Government Solutions Professional Services. This position includes both remote and onsite consulting.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintaining an expert-level understanding of SUSE Rancher’s portfolio of products.
  • Supporting Rancher Multi-Cluster Manager, Harvester HCI, Longhorn storage, and the Neuvector security platform.
  • Understanding complementary technology such as Kubernetes, Prometheus, Grafana and common applications and tooling in the cloud native ecosystem.
  • Providing technical consulting for Rancher users architecting container solutions.
  • Working with prospects and customers to implement solutions based on Rancher and demonstrating Rancher's impact on users.
  • Building technical solutions to help solve customer problems.
  • Developing and executing account plans for strategic accounts.
  • Maintaining long-term relationships with customers and partners.
  • Understanding feature requests and advocating for customers and users with product management.
  • Providing leadership and customer feedback throughout the sales lifecycle.
  • Acting as a public representative of RGS in North America, including writing and speaking at industry events, conferences, and seminars.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • **Minimum Active US Government Dept of Defense (DoD) Top Secret clearance.**
  • Ten (10) or more years of experience working with relevant technology as a user or field engineer.
  • Deep knowledge of containers and container orchestration (Rancher, Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift) for operations and development.
  • Experience with DevSecOps concepts.
  • Experience with CI/CD and automation software.
  • IaC experience with tools like Ansible, Terraform, Saltstack, Pulumi, etc
  • Linux operating system experience
  • Experience with at least one cloud provider (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud, etc)
  • Experience presenting technical concepts to end users both in person and virtually.
  • Experience multitasking across multiple customer engagements.
  • Experience speaking at industry events.
  • Experience creating technical white papers, blog posts, and videos.
  • Experience working in an open-source community.
  • Excellent technical knowledge and aptitude for learning.
  • Ability to set and maintain goals, welcome feedback, and enjoy success.

It's a Plus If You Have:

  • Knowledge of a programming language (ie Python, R, Go)
  • Knowledge of BASH scripting for systems automation
  • Writing custom Kubernetes operators and/or controllers
  • Running AI/ML applications on Kubernetes
  • GPU workload experience

This is a remote position that can include travel up to 30% of the time across the United States and to client locations.
