Our client seeks a Credit Underwriter to help facilitate their rapidly growing commercial lending business. As the ideal candidate, you must be highly motivated and entrepreneurial; a floorplan/inventory finance background is a plus.  You must be a team player energized by challenges and can impact our evolving business in a dynamic market.

You will be expected to analyze credit requests for commercial inventory loan financing to determine the risk involved in extending credit. You will analyze business financial performance using balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow trends as well as key financial ratios and metrics. Evaluating the personal character and worth of the owners and guarantors is also a component of the review process. You will then present the requests with appropriate conditions of approval including required loan documents. 

To be successful, you should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance
  • Three years prior relevant credit experience
  • Ability to analyze financial statements/tax returns, including trend, ratio, and cash flow analysis
  • Possess thorough knowledge of secured lending documentation, including UCC, Purchase Money Security Interest, Intercreditor Agreements, and Letters of Credit
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and attention to detail

Your responsibilities as the Credit Underwriter will include:

  • Prepare credit narratives for new and existing customers, including a thorough risk assessment focusing on transaction structure, financial capacity, principal experience, guarantor support, industry, economic trends, and a well-supported recommendation.
  • Spread and analyze financial statements; evaluate financial ratios and measure credit risk.  
  • Review and understand consumer credit and third-party business reports.  
  • Determine appropriate documentation, including guarantees, UCCs, and additional collateral.
  • Responsible for periodic reviews of customer relationships to confirm risk rating and financial stability.  
  • Interact with prospective and existing customers and internal departments, including sales, operations, and legal. 
  • Ancillary responsibilities include system verification, documentation review, projects, training, and reporting as necessary.
