The role’s primary responsibility is designing and implementing AutoNation’s software delivery pipeline. This includes version control management, build automation, test orchestration automation, infrastructure-as-code, configuration management, deployment automation. Other responsibilities include Level 2 production support, documentation and mentoring junior DevOps engineers.

The applicant must be adept to working in a highly fluid environment which can include frequent changes to requirements and timelines. The candidate must also be a self-learner with abilities to quickly absorb new and emerging technologies. Other key requirements include sound troubleshooting skills, effective communication skills and a collaborative approach to problem solving.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with PMO, Dev, QA and other IT professionals to deliver optimal products and services in a timely manner.
  • Providing technical leadership on internal DevOps projects by defining requirements, setting priorities, and communicating progress and challenges to IT leadership.
  • Developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines to enable quick and reliable deployments.
  • Designing and provisioning highly available and scalable infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code.
  • Monitoring the performance of applications and services to ensure uptime.
  • Troubleshooting issues across platform and application domains.
  • Integrating security best practices into our development lifecycle for compliance and data protection.
  • Mentoring junior level team members and promoting a culture of knowledge sharing.
  • Researching and implementing new technologies to drive continuous improvements in our software delivery process.
  • Documenting architecture, configurations and technical procedures of applied solutions.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps or related field.
  • 3+ Experience with continuous integration/delivery tools such as Azure DevOps, Octopus, GitLab.
  • 5+ years of operational experience with cloud IaaS and PaaS technologies at the enterprise level
  • 3+ years of experience with AWS and/or Azure.
  • 3+ years of experience with container and microservices technologies in AWS and/or Azure (AWS ECS, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm)
  • 3+ years of experience automating the provisioning of cloud resources in Azure (ARM Templates), AWS (CloudFormation/CDK) and/or terraform.
  • 3+ years of experience managing API layer with an API Management tools (Azure APIM, MuleSoft, Apigee)
  • 5+ years of experience managing enterprise on-prem infrastructures (VMs, LBs, Network protocols, Windows Server, Linux)
  • 5+ years designing and implementing process automation using scripting tools and languages such as PowerShell, bash, Python and other similar languages
  • Understanding of software development processes and methodologies Working knowledge of coding standards and technologies such as C#, .Net core and standard, Java, MVC, client-side frameworks (Angular JS/jQuery), SPA, asynchronous programming, web sockets, rest APIs, SQL and mobile clients is a plus.
  • Expertise in troubleshooting full stack implementations from client to backend systems using client-side tools, APMs, network monitoring tools and log parsers
  • Expertise with ALM and release management processes
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in technology or equivalent job experience
  • Microsoft and/or AWS certification preferred
