Position Summary
The General Manager of Quality provides managerial, statistical, and problem-solving methods to enable the organization to achieve process improvement capabilities. The successful candidate will be required to lead and develop the Quality function to support the production processes and customer processes. They will also be viewed as the Quality conscience for all of the business processes ensuring that all departments continue to deliver exceptional Customer Experience Quality. This is a hands-on position responsible for identifying, planning, performing and implementing process improvement initiatives, working directly with managers and employees on the line.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities
- Act as a business partner in developing and deploying a continual improvement strategy using the JCB ProductionSystem. This includes the development of Objectives and Targets to meet Customer expectations.
- Lead and support initiatives, including ownership of the Quality assessment process, to establish and/or improve thecompany’s Quality procedures, standards, and specifications
- Identify process improvements to support the inspection cycle time reduction efforts
- Work with purchasing staff to establish quality requirements from external suppliers setting standards for quality
- Promote the use of relevant quality tools whilst making sure managers and other staff understand how to improve thebusiness
- Manage a staff of 25-40
- Monitor and evaluate staff and adjust training where needed
- Act as a role model and coach for staff
- Monitor and Report on the team’s progress through KPI’s
- Effectively remove roadblocks as they arise.
- Use the JCB Production System principles to guide plant strategies and drive operational excellence.
- Facilitate, co-facilitate Kaizen events and ensure results are sustained through rigorous standardization and compliance.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5-8+ year’s business/lean/operations experience, driving team excellence, and managing people.
- Experience in quality control in a manufacturing and assembly environment
- Proven leadership skills (lead, motivate, process and people management skills).
- Experience in improvement processes (i.e. Six Sigma, Lean, etc.).
- Must pass any drug screens, background checks and pre-employment tests as applicable
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Competencies
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and SAP
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Effective time management and organizational skills
- Detail oriented
- Ability to multi-task while maintaining a sense of urgency
- Work with minimal supervision
- Effective problem solving skills
- Authority to make changes happen across functions and departments.
- Ability to communicate with all levels of personnel.
- Excellent understanding of analytical tools and proficiency in root cause analysis, probability and statistics.
- Strong leadership abilities, including the ability to drive improvement projects throughout the organization and ensurestrict adherence to policies from management to line level in the face of resistance to change
- Excellent project management skills
- Self-motivated and resilient, with a high energy level and strong work ethic
