Job Summary
The Kentucky Geological Survey (KGS), a publicly supported research center within the University of Kentucky (UK), is recruiting a Geologist II. Key position responsibilities include field work to collect methane concentration measurements from orphaned oil and gas wells, examine and analyze gas samples collected, and digital database entry of measurements.
The person in this position should be comfortable working independently and safely in a field setting, including driving long distances and overnight travel. As a representative of the Kentucky Geological Survey and the University of Kentucky, the person should be comfortable collaborating with outside contractors and staff from the KY Division of Oil and Gas. Experience with Excel data compilation and analysis is required, and ArcGI and Google Earth experience skills are preferred. Experience with GC-FID measurements in a laboratory setting is considered a plus. This exempt position is grant funded with all UK benefits and paid travel expenses. This position reports to the KGS MMRB location on UK’s campus in Lexington, KY.
