As an intern in our Internal AuditDepartment, you will be given specific projects to complete throughout the summer within your department and the results of your projects will have a direct impact on our company. Here’s a sample of some of the recent projects our interns have worked on:

  • FTC regulations audit: Reviewed the compliance program covering sponsored social media posts to protect the Company against potential legal or reputational ramifications
  • UPS & USPS billing audits: Tested that charges agree to contractual rates to ensure the millions of dollars spent on shipping is accurate and no overcharges were incurred.
  • Pension plan audit: Recalculated benefits to ensure employees are protected and the Company adheres to various legal requirements.

Potential future project work includes:

  • A review of L.L.Bean’s social media presence to ensure there is proper governance and controls in place over posts on various platforms.  This includes Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc.
  • A validation of L.L.Bean’s new omni-channel sales options to ensure the customer experience is as expected.  This includes buying products online and picking them up at a store or shipped from the store.
  • A test of the effectiveness of cybersecurity controls in devices in our various buildings.  This includes searching for open technology on the Company’s network.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend relevant meetings that will drive work
  • Work with various cross-functional partners on key projects
  • Assist team in performing Audit functions

Qualifications:  

  • Must be currently enrolled in a 4-year college or university degree program; Strong preference will be given to rising Juniors, Seniors, and graduating Seniors  
  • Passion for retail combined with a strong desire to represent the L.L.Bean brand 
  • Strong analytical, research, and demonstrated leadership skills 
  • Flexibility and willingness to work where needed during the internship experience 
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and strong oral and written communication skills 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail 
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a dynamic work environment 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in analyzing data and presenting findings, Excel and PowerPoint 
  • Curiosity, grit and a growth mindset 

Health and Safety Requirement: Ensures compliance with the L.L.Bean comprehensive Health and Safety program by knowing and following all safety guidelines, policies, procedures and expectations. Takes immediate and appropriate action to rectify any unsafe conditions.
