Learning and Development Consultant
Overview
In alignment with OnPoint’s business goals and objectives, the Learning & Development Consultant is responsible for the design, development, and implementation/delivery of innovative training and development programs and learning solutions that can develop and strengthen the knowledge, skills and abilities of the credit union’s workforce. Responsibilities will include assessing employee and organizational needs, designing scalable training solutions, ensuring smooth delivery of solutions, and making continuous improvements to adapt to changing business needs.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate (or co-facilitate) classroom trainings and webinars on a variety of functional and technical topics.
- Develop or customize training manuals, guides, job aids, visual aids and course materials that can be delivered either in a physical classroom or a virtual setting.
- Help coordinate appropriate resources to ensure training is delivered in the most efficient and effective manner.
- Partner with team members in coordinating training event logistics, training materials production and distribution, and the generation of reports.
- Actively participate in the planning and design of curriculum using adult learning methodology; ensure courses address appropriate skill sets, stimulate learning, and motivate employees.
- Maintain and update employee resources and tools in the learning management system (Learning Center).
- Handle employee Learning Center-related inquiries and, when needed, work with the vendor to resolve system problems/errors.
- Use authoring courseware (e.g, Captivate; Articulate) to create, edit and/or update e-learning modules in the Learning Center.
- Keep manager, team members and customers regularly updated on work progress and issues or changes.
- Work closely with team members and Human Resources to maximize the use of resources, knowledge and best practices.
- Assist with special department or organizational projects, as assigned.
- Perform other duties, as assigned by L & D Supervisor or Organizational Effectiveness Manager.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Minimum of two (2) years working in the financial services industry.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong classroom presence and dynamic presentation skills.
- Proven organizational and project management skills that ensure on-time execution of deliverables.
- Strong interpersonal skills; viewed as a team player who encourages and models collaboration and builds and maintains strong, effective business partnerships.
- Proven ability to design and deliver creative and effective presentations and webinars that will enhance the participant’s learning experience.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a member focus that views situations from a member perspective so as to better understand their needs, concerns and ideas and provide excellent service.
- Ability to train technical information to a broad audience (e.g. DNA system). Demonstrated ability to ask appropriate questions at the right time and listen effectively in order to help diagnose the situation and develop recommendations and practical, innovative solutions.
- Demonstrated comfort in asking for, receiving and acting on feedback from team members, customers, and training participants.
- Ability to build credibility by articulating professional expertise in ways that make sense to our customers.
- Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of employees in the organization.
- Outstanding interpersonal, coaching, and leadership skills and the ability to influence across various leadership levels.

- Demonstrated ability to work independently, remain on task, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet strict deadlines.
- Strong technical aptitude along with immediate/advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
Minimum Experience:
- College degree or work experience in a related field such as Organizational Development, Training, Human Resources, Education, or Business Communications.
- Experience in the delivery and group facilitation of training via multiple instructional methods (classroom, webinars, e-learning, one-on-one).
- Working knowledge of adult learning theory, diverse learning styles and adult motivational techniques.
- Experience designing and developing e-learning, web-based and classroom training courses.
- Experience working with web-based training technology, e.g. Zoom
- Experience working with authoring courseware (e.g. Captivate, Articulate) and learning management systems.
- Experience evaluating the effectiveness of training.
- Experience in managing projects.
