Job Summary
Directs and coordinates activities of production department(s) in processing materials or manufacturing products in industrial organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. Provides supervision to evening, night or weekend shift departments that do not have department or working supervisor assigned.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities, not limited to:
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to follow all Howmet's safety regulations, work rules, along with handbook and all departmental specific requirements.
- Ability to read and follow the information on work instructions.
- Record data either manually or by computer as required.
- Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates to plan department operations.
- Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
- Prepares operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.
- Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
- Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
- Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.
- Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data.
- Resolves worker grievances or submits unsettled grievances to manufacturing or Business Center Manager for appropriate action.
- Analyze and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
- Explains/Enforce company policies and safety regulations to employees.
- Assign work to employees as needed.
- Complete performance evaluations on employees. May counsel employees on performance and coordinate training to improve performance.
- Initiates and/or recommend/approve corrective or disciplinary action for employees, as needed.
- Initiate and/or recommend/approve personnel actions such as hires, promotions, transfers, and discharges.
- Must comply with all company attendance policies and guidelines; this includes, but is not limited to, regular attendance and occasional overtime.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Basic Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
- 3 years of specific training/experience in leadership role in a manufacturing environment.
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for the position.
- This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree from two-year college or technical school preferred.
