As a Medical Records Tech within the Living Bridge at the Georgia Department of Public Health,you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting the lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

Location: The Living Bridge in Gainesville, GA. 

Job Responsibilities

Under broad supervision, compiles, processes, and maintains medical records of hospital and
clinic clients in a manner consistent with medical, administrative, ethical, legal, and regulatory
requirements of the health care system. Processes, maintains, compiles, and reports client
information for health requirements and standards. May conduct utilization reviews.

  • Will populate and maintain the CAREWare data collection system for all three clinics based on medical records maintained in eClinicalWorks on a daily basis.
  • Will conduct data reviews on the medical records to ensure completeness and will address any missing data points in the medical record system.
  • Will provide administrative support tasks as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.  

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or GED AND certified as a medical records technician by the American Health Information Management Association AND Three (3) years of experience in a medical records unit, which involved the independent coding of diagnostic data; OR One (1) year of experience at the lower-level Medical Records Tech 2 (HCT041) or position equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • HIV CareWare data system experience.
  • eClinicalWorks electronic health records system experience.

Current State employees are subject to State Personnel Board rules regarding salary.
 
CBH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered.
 
All positions require criminal history record check. Required education credentials, license, certification and/or registration must be submitted prior to employment in the position. Some positions require pre-employment drug testing in which the applicant who is offered the position will be required to successfully complete.
