Position Summary



The University of Southern Indiana is accepting applications for Nursing Simulation Educator to join our esteemed nursing education program. The is a twelve-month, renewable faculty role. This individual will play a pivotal role in elevating nursing students' educational experience through simulation-based experiences and providing targeted support to enhance student success in the undergraduate and graduate nursing programs.







Duties/Responsibilities 



Nursing Simulation Coordination:

  • Utilize effective teaching pedagogy in the development, coordination, facilitation, and implementation of nursing simulation-based experiences to enrich hands-on learning experiences for students by bridging theory content to simulated patient care delivery.
  • Collaborate with nursing faculty to design and implement simulation scenarios aligned with program and course objectives.
  • Ensure the availability of nursing simulation equipment and resources.
  • Collaborate with the director of the Clinical Simulation Center and assist with nursing simulations.


Student Success Coaching in Nursing:

  • Provide personalized coaching and support to nursing students, focusing on academic achievement and overall success in the nursing program.
  • Conduct assessments to identify strengths and areas for improvement in nursing competencies.
  • Collaborate with nursing students to create tailored success plans and academic goals.
  • Work in tandem with other nursing support services to provide a comprehensive approach to nursing student success.


Facilitation of Nursing Learning:

  • Facilitate nursing simulation sessions, pre-briefings and de-briefings, guiding students in reflecting on their experiences and integrating theoretical knowledge into practical skills.
  • Utilize effective teaching methodologies specific to nursing education to engage students during simulation-based experiences.
  • Collaborate with faculty in the development of curriculum and evaluation methods to meet desired program outcomes and competencies.
  • Assist in nursing skill lab/seminar as needed with simulation-based experiences and emerging technologies.
  • Evaluate student performance to assess competency progression and attainment.


Nursing Resource Development:

  • Develop and curate nursing-specific educational resources, including case studies, scenarios, and simulation materials.
  • Stay abreast of best practices in nursing simulation-based experiences and integrate them into coaching and simulation strategies.


Nursing Data Tracking and Analysis:

  • Help with data collection of nursing student retention and progress related to coaching strategies.
  • Analyze nursing student data to identify trends and areas for improvement, implementing data-driven interventions.






Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Master's degree in nursing
  • Hold an unencumbered Indiana RN License
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on nursing-specific competencies
  • Familiarity with educational technologies and simulation-based experience equipment
  • Ability to analyze data and implement data-driven interventions in the context of nursing education






Preferred Knowledge and Skills

  • Experience in nursing education
  • Background in student success coaching and/or academic advising
  • Experience in simulation coordination and implementation
