Become a part of the team behind the team. As employees of the Portland Trail Blazers, we do more than basketball. We are blazing trails toward winning championships on and off the court. As such, we are in search of a Blazers NutritionPrep Cook who will support our Sous Chef and collaborate with the entire Nutrition Staff. In this role, you will have a hands-on opportunity to feed high-caliber professional athletes. As a Prep Cook, you are responsible for preparing food items according to the recipes and standards set by the nutrition department. You will work under the guidance of the Executive Chef and Sous Chef and are responsible for preparing food items for various stations in the kitchen. To succeed in this position, you must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and quickly identify and act on job duties. You should also be a team player who can thrive in a dynamic workplace and challenge yourself to grow at a high level, while maintaining attention to detail. This role is part-time, with an average of 25-28 hours per week, located in Tualatin, Oregon. It is a seasonal position starting on September 30th and lasting through the end of the NBA season, pending playoffs.  DAY-TO-DAY:
  • Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes
  • Cut, chop and prepare vegetables, meat, and other ingredients
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment and work areas
  • Store ingredients and food items in proper containers and at appropriate temperatures
  • Assist the chef or cook in preparing meals
  • Ensure that all ingredients are properly labeled and dated
  • Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines 
 

WE’D LIKE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE:

  • Degree in culinary arts or a related field
  • Several years of professional kitchen experience
  • Strong leadership and management abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining high food quality and safety standards.
  • ServSafe Manager permit (required within 30 days of hire)
  • Highly adaptable, with excellent communication skills that reinforce working effectively in a diverse environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Workspace
  • Superior time management and multitasking skills with minimal supervision
  • Strong problem-identification and problem-resolution skills
  • Can work flexible hours to accommodate business requirements, including evening and weekend work schedules.
