REPORTS TO:                 Principal

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

Perform clerical responsibilities of a confidential and responsible nature requiring knowledge of systems and procedures in a school environment.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·       Perform general receptionist duties.

·       Perform general bookkeeping duties.

·       Answer telephones and screen incoming calls.

·       Attend computer and job skills training as requested during work hours.

·       Photocopy/collate materials.

·       Maintain attendance sheets.

·       Type correspondence, memos and other communications.

·       Perform other related clerical duties as assigned.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

·       Knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices where necessary.

·       Proficient in the use of modern office procedures, practices and equipment, including Microsoft Windows’97, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook or whatever is applicable to the specific school.

·       Ability to work and make decisions in accordance with rules, regulations and departmental policy and procedures.

·       Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff.

·       Ability to exercise tact and courtesy in dealing with the public, students, and staff.

·       Knowledge of and ability to use Standard English grammar with correct spelling, punctuation and letter form.

·       Ability to make basic arithmetical computations and speed and accuracy.

·       Must possess a high school diploma or GED supplemented by business courses.

·       Ability to work under stressful conditions and work within difficult time constraints.

·       Ability to work effectively with diverse groups.

SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary in accordance with Hartford Federation of School Secretaries, 2023-2024 Salary Grid (095-11), $37,896-$50,860. Eleven-month work year.
