Position Purpose:

Supervises the operation and maintenance of the SCADA System for Water Production/Distribution including all Wells and Storage. Also both Wastewater Plants including 50 Lift Stations, water distribution and sewer collection system. Responsibilities include regulatory compliance, safety, maintenance for Water and Wastewater facilities.

Primarily concerning corrective maintenance and assisting Operations with PMs ie. performance and training with Operational oversight as need for Water Production.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for continuous operation of all water and sewer system facilities, which include emergency repairs 24 hours/day. Must be able to respond to emergency calls as needed and work extended hours to accommodate site needs.
  • Monitors weather forecasts as well as current precipitation events. Maintains communication with system and plant operators during these events.
  • Responds to complaint calls regarding water or sewers, establishes personal contact with complainant and resolves all disagreements.
  • Makes decisions regarding work assignments and acts immediately to prevent equipment failure or negative impact in emergency situations. The position makes recommendations for equipment and personnel to the Project Manager.
  • Commitment to health, safety and protection of the environment: The incumbent supports United Water's commitment to safety by complying with the programs regarding health, safety and protection of the environment. The incumbent demonstrates safe work practices, takes part in safety meetings as required, and advises the supervisor of any non-conforming conditions.
  • Other duties as needed and assigned by Project Manager.

Work Environment:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.


Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:
  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • 5-7 years of progressive experience in the maintenance and operation of a wastewater collection and/or distribution system, pumping and interceptor system is required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Proficient knowledge and adherence to all environmental and safety compliance regulations.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Outlook.
  • Requires technical skills and knowledge of the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the water and sewage collection system.
  • Must have working knowledge of the skills required of the mechanical, plumbing, trenching, excavation, and other various construction and building trades as related to the operation and maintenance of the water and sewage collection system.
  • Requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with client, public, employees, etc. Must operate within a team atmosphere.
  • Experience with managing preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance within a computerized maintenance management system including purchasing and inventory is desired.
  • Must possess good organizational skills and be able to plan, prioritize and work simultaneously on several projects.
  • Ability to shift priorities frequently and effectively perform under pressure.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and various construction designs.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:
  • Valid driver's license in state of residence is required and must meet risk management guidelines.

Physical Requirements:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb stairs or ladders; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.
  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to distinguish color, close vision and distance vision.
