Job Description

Job Title:               Part-Time Official (IMSA Engineering Support)

Department:          Competition

FLSA Status:         Non-Exempt

SUMMARY:

This person is responsible for supporting engineering tasks and at-track scrutineering electronics, telemetry, and data systems across multiple series and classes.  Support of development and integration of data acquisition systems, in-car marshalling systems, timing systems.  Works closely with IMSA Engineers, race teams, and suppliers to ensure system functionality and operational compliance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Troubleshooting and diagnosis of series-specific electronics, telemetry, and data acquisition systems.
  • Interfaces directly with teams and suppliers for all IMSA Series on data systems, telemetry, and electronics.
  • Organizes setup, configuration, and operation of trackside engineering infrastructure.
  • Manages collection, organization, and internal distribution of logged data.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Other responsibilities may include:

  • Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of motorsports experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Position is safety sensitive and participates in the corporate Substance Abuse Program (SAP).
  • Professional motorsports experience preferred.
  • Professional experience with motorsports data acquisition.
  • Understanding of vehicle systems and control systems.
  • Skilled with Excel, vehicle data interpreter platforms, and data logging configurators. 
  • Experienced with both Controller Area Network (CAN) and IT network technologies.
  • Strong work ethic, unquestionable integrity, and commitment to excellence.
  • Adept at multitasking and project management.
  • Drive for the highest quality work.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. 
  • Proficient in all Company-provided hardware and software. 

Approximate travel 90%.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

OTHER SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Customer service, people skills, represent Company.  Use of computer is required.
