Job Responsibilities

The Perinatal Clinical Liaison will be responsible for providing quality improvement education, training, coaching, and technical assistance for clinical staff providing services to women and infants receiving care in Georgia birthing facilities.
This position reports to the Women’s Health Director within the Office of Women’s Health in the Department’s Women, Children and Nursing Services Division.  
 
Job Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Serves in an outreach educator role for the state’s birthing facilities in close collaboration with the Regional Perinatal Centers (RPCs). 
  • Works collaboratively with the RPC Medical Directors and Outreach Educators by providing guidance and support with program implementation, clinical quality improvement, and education activities.
  • Serves as an Improvement Advisor for the Georgia Perinatal Quality Collaborative (GaPQC).
  • Provide senior level professional nursing consultation to the GaPQC including coordinating and providing technical assistance and guidance regarding perinatal health initiatives. Incorporate structured Continuous Quality Improvement principles to support best practice dissemination for GaPQC hospital teams. 
  • Communicate with GaPQC leadership and advisory committees on specific successes and challenges encountered at respective hospitals and determine outreach plans based on support assessment.
  • Assess team progress reports, summarize knowledge, and stimulate collaboration including sharing of QI initiative successes on monthly webinars and other learning events.
  • Serve as an engaging and effective clinical liaison to hospital teams, community/patient advisors, medical, and nursing staff to facilitate engagement in projects and campaigns.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in nursing, nursing administration, public health or directly related field from an accredited college or university AND Six years in an administrative or supervisory capacity AND current Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse
OR
Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND Seven years of experience as Registered Nurse, Four years of which in an administrative or supervisory capacity AND current Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse
OR
Eight years of experience as a Registered Nurse, Three years of which in an environment related to the area of assignment, Eight years of which as a supervisor AND current Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse AND Three years  of Public Health nursing experience.

Preferred Qualifications: 
Preference will be given to applicants who in addition to meeting the minimum qualification possess the following:

  • 5 years or more clinical maternal and/or neonatal nursing experience.
  • Specialty certification in maternal or neonatal care (Inpatient OB, Neonatal Nursing, Obstetric and Neonatal Quality and Safety). 
  • 5 years or more leading clinical Quality Improvement initiatives and/or Perinatal Education.
