As a Public Health Registered Nurse within the Cherokee County Health Department at the Georgia Department of Public Health,you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting the lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.
Location: Cherokee County Health Department in Canton, GA.
Job Responsibilities
Under supervision, provides professional nursing care in accordance with nurse protocols, policies and/or procedures.
- Provides professional nursing care in accordance with established nurse protocols in any health department programs including but not limited to Child Health, Immunizations, Family Planning, Women's Health, STDs, and TB to include assessments, diagnosis, treatments, and referrals.
- Consults with individual nurse program leads to assist with back-up for client health care needs in various programs on a PRN basis.
- Provide ongoing guidance and support to new and established nurses, lab techs, and other team members with public health practices.
- Support the professional development of team members by sharing knowledge, offering guidance, and encouraging learning in the field of public health.
- Consults with site leadership when appropriate.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND completion of a PHN course within one (1) year of hire AND current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certification. Note: No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in nursing.
- Public health nursing experience.

CBH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered.
All positions require criminal history record check. Required education credentials, license, certification and/or registration must be submitted prior to employment in the position.
