Position Purpose: 

Reporting directly to the Transmission and Distribution (T&D) Supervisor, this position is responsible for planning and scheduling T&D operations and coordinating the scheduling of field customer service activities. This role ensures seamless integration and efficient execution of field work processes generated from various work streams.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive plans and schedules for field operations, including maintenance, repair, and construction activities.
  •  Coordinate with various departments, such as engineering, operations, and customer service, to ensure efficient scheduling and resource allocation.
  • Prioritize and assign work orders based on urgency, resource availability, and operational requirements.
  • Manage and allocate resources, including personnel, equipment, materials, and vehicles, to ensure efficient field operations.
  • Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure the timely availability of necessary materials and supplies.
  • Monitor resource utilization and make adjustments as needed to optimize efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Act as a liaison between field crews, supervisors, and other departments, facilitating effective communication and coordination.
  • Coordinate with external agencies, contractors, and utility providers to ensure seamless operations and minimize disruptions.
  • Communicate project updates, schedules, and any changes or delays to relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to water utility operations, including environmental regulations and safety standards.
  • Obtain necessary permits and approvals for field operations, such as excavation permits, road closures, and utility locates.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for compliance purposes.
  • Maintain and update databases and information systems related to field operations, including work order management, asset management, and geographic information systems (GIS).
  • Coordinate with emergency response teams, utility crews, and external agencies during emergency situations.
  • Ensure effective communication and resource allocation during emergency operations.
  • Coordinate with local Police departments to schedule any necessary traffic safety detail
  • Initiate and obtain all necessary locate requests for underground utilities as mandated by New Jersey's Underground Facility Protection Act (NJUFPA) and the New Jersey One Call system.
  • Monitor escrow account balances, process invoices, and ensure timely payments to external agencies for services rendered.
  • This position requires you to report to the Toms River office on a full time capacity.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background: 

  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • Education or experience with work planning, materials/supplies procurement, and/or inventory logistics.
  • A minimum of 5-years related work in water utility or similar operational settings is preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

  • Well-rounded knowledge of water utility operations maintenance, distribution, supply, and treatment work and materials used preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, maps and drawings.
  • Knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing applications.
  • Knowledge of inventory system & control practices.
  • Experience with Maintenance Management System.
  • Valid state driver’s license.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to swiftly adapt and pivot priorities in response to changing circumstances, emergencies, or unforeseen events that may arise during field operations.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work independently & without direct supervision.
  • Effectively multitask and seamlessly transition between various ongoing projects, activities, and responsibilities, ensuring that critical tasks and deadlines are not overlooked or neglected.
  • Intermediate to advanced technical capacity with the ability to quickly learn new and/or proprietary systems, to easily navigate mapping, computer, and phone systems used daily including:
    • Work / Asset Management Systems – Clevest, Cityworks, Kloudgin, etc.
    • Business Systems - PeopleSoft Inventory and Requisition Systems.
    • GIS, Google Office Suite
