Position Summary:

A Practice Secretary performs a wide variety of clerical and reception activities that support the delivery of services to patients/staff of the Adult Medicine department. A Practice Secretary utilizes excellent customer service to greet patients and others, and screen walk-ins to the practice. Practice Secretaries report to a Clinical Coordinator.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interact professionally and respectfully with patients and staff, addressing individual needs and concerns.
  • Provide outstanding customer service to ensure patients feel welcomed and valued.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and effectively use communication devices.
  • Foster a team-oriented environment by demonstrating self-direction and motivation.
  • Independently solve problems or know when to seek guidance.
  • Manage patient check-out processes, including entering follow-up, referral, and X-file appointments in the system.
  • Review After Visit Summary instructions with patients as needed and print additional labels.
  • Prepare charts for the morning and assist with other opening and closing procedures.
  • Utilize computer systems to schedule, cancel, and confirm appointments, request records, and communicate via email or staff messages.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least one year of experience in a medical office setting.
  • Proficient computer skills in a Windows environment; familiarity with medical terminology is preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.

Compensation:

  • Pay: Starting at $18, with potential to earn up to $27 based on experience.
