Position Purpose:
The Production Manager (PM) will monitor unit production efficiency interacting with the support departments to optimize production while maintaining a Goal Zero Safety Culture.
The Production Manager will monitor waste feeds to the incinerator to identify problem feeds. He will then work with the area departments to improve, correct or adapt to the problem feeds. The corrective actions will include suspending the feed so it can be fed at a later date. Switching K-mixes or remixing K-mixes. Also, adding drums to P-mixes to change the BTU value. Selecting tanks to feed to optimize burning waste fed in other ports.
The Production Manager will interact with the container management Supervisor to expedite the Drum feed plan to all ports. The Production Manager will review available Combustible Direct charges to choose the feed order of the drums. Also, the Container Management Supervisor will review the incoming drum loads with the Production Manager to prioritize the drum unload according to the feed plan.
The PM will help troubleshoot problems that arise with the waste feed or mechanical issues within the confines of the incinerator unit, deep well and water treatment.
The PM will assist with writing and reviewing SDP's. He will also be involved with the planning and execution of special projects. He will assist in the startup of newly installed equipment and piping.

Primary Duties/responsibilities:
- Maintains safe working conditions: identifies and corrects or reports unsafe work areas.
- Performs assignments in compliance with published company operating and safety policies and procedures.
- Oversees and manages the training of direct reports to ensure compliance with published company operating and safety policies and procedures.
- Supervises department safety program and assures personnel are complying with safety requirements.
- Assure compliance with environmental regulations.
- Supervises day-to-day operations of Container Storage Building (CSB), Assured Destruction Area (ADA), Box Management Crew, Pump plan crew, Compliance team.
- Tracks plant activities and trends in order to improve plant efficiency and reduce costs.
- Reduce downtime of waste feed due to container movement.
- Assess hazardous waste profile and analytical results to determine correct handling methods and spill responses.
- Oversees and manages hazardous waste reporting requirements and works with waste blending to determine disposal procedures.
- Work with EHS Manager to assure plant operations meet OSHA, MOSH, EPA, and MDE regulatory requirements.
- Corresponds with contractors, government agencies, vendors, OSHA/MOSH, and personnel from other utilities.
- Makes recommendations to upper management concerning hiring and terminations.
- Instructs and advises individuals on work related problems. Within the authority established in the Employees Policy and Procedures Manual, prepares performance appraisals and disciplinary actions, as appropriate.
- Provides recommendations for the department training programs.
- Prepares, submits for approval, and administers department budgets
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.
Qualifications
Education / Experience / Background:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Bachelor's degree in a related science required
- Five years experience in a related position and environment with knowledge of the methods, techniques, and practices of hazardous waste management. (Preferred)
- Regulatory Knowledge (RCRA, CERCLA), and knowledge of Title V - NESHAPS.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
- Must have the ability to diagnose process problems regardless of complexity, troubleshoot equipment and related systems and take corrective action within policy and procedure limitations.
- Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.
- Demonstrated ability to compose and write technical reports and recommendations.
Required Certification / Licenses / Training:
- 40 hour OSHA HAZWOPER
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to climb and tolerate heights up to 75 feet and to tolerate confined spaces
