As a Professional Health Care Worker within the North Georgia Health District at the Georgia Department of Public Health,you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting the lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

Location: This position will travel to the following health departments within the district: Murray, Fannin, Pickens, and Gilmer. 

This position will work a maximum of 29 hours per week.
 

Job Responsibilities

Under supervision of a senior APRN, performs advanced nursing functions and healthcare services in specialized areas. Operates under the nurse protocol agreement with the delegating physician, conducts complete physicals, provides treatment, and counsels clients. May prescribe medication in some cases.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Will travel to the following health departments within the district to provide family planning and Women's Health clinical services: Murray, Fannin, Pickens, and Gilmer.
  • Will provide clinical services for a maximum of 29 hours per week. 
  • Examines clients to obtain information about their physical condition.
  • Administers or orders diagnostic testing as indicated.
  • Interprets diagnostic test results for deviations from normal.
  • Instructs and counsels clients regarding family planning, contraceptive options and effectiveness, health maintenance, and prescribed therapeutic regimens. 
  • Makes tentative diagnosis and decisions about management and treatment of clients. 
  • Obtains, compiles, and records client medical data, including health history, progress notes and results of physical examination. 
  • Performs therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, IUD, and implant insertions.
  • Prescribes therapy or medication according to protocol.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor. 

Minimum Qualifications

Doctorate or Master's in nursing from an accredited college or university and/or other education requirements approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing AND certification in the specialty area(s) approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing AND Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse AND Georgia license as an APRN AND CPR certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Public health experience
  • Women's Health experience. 
  • Experience with the insertion of an IUD and implant insertions.
