This position will be eligible for Sick and Safe paid leave, as well as paid volunteer time.

Summary  

We are looking for a dynamic, high performing individual with excellent sales, communication and customer service experience and skills. The ideal candidate will thrive in the fast-paced world of property management, with an opportunity to shadow all roles, from Leasing to Service (Maintenance), to Regional Director. Intern will learn the functions of Centerspace property management operations, from daily operations to overall strategy and implementation of procedures. 

Expectations 

This is a 12-week internship position. Follows already established procedures. Generally given substantial guidance but expected to be self-directed once trained.   

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. During this internship you will become familiar with all operational processes:   

  • You will have access to all in-house e-learning training programs.  
  • Work with the on-site team to understand their duties and responsibilities to gain knowledge of day-to-day processes, procedures, etc.  
  • Exposure to all aspects of property operations, using rotation process to ensure exposure to each on site department. 
  • Opportunity to meet with senior leaders to learn about high level strategy of the business. 
  • Work closely with Community Leaders to complete monthly delinquency, and variance reporting, leasing, etc.:  admin duties. 
  • Will shadow service (maintenance) team for exposure to physical maintenance of asset(s). 
  • Will creatively market the property on social media to attract business leads.  
  • Will work on special projects with an operations/on-site focus.  
  • Gain an understanding of financial outcomes and the drive to increase asset value.  
  • Get familiar with Yardi, the industry’s leading property management software.  

Qualifications 

  • Education and/or Experience: Current enrollment in a course of study in a field related to Real Estate or Property Management. 
  • Physical Demands:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk and hear.  The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.   
  • Work Environment: The noise level in the office environment is usually reasonably quiet. While visiting sites employee may be exposed to outdoor extreme weather conditions, loud noises, heat/cold/wet, loud noise, heavy equipment and obstacles to navigate. Appropriate safety precautions will be provided and must be used.  

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Language Skills – Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. 
  • Mathematical Skills – Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.  Experience with financial modeling is strongly preferred.   
  • Reasoning Ability – Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. 
  • Computer Skills – To perform the job successfully, an individual should have advanced knowledge of Microsoft products including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
