Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Radiological Control Dosimetry Manager to work in our Environment, Safety, Health and Quality department. Our team works onsite with a 4x10 schedule located out of our Central Facilities Area (CFA) Health Physics Laboratory (HPL) in Idaho with every Friday off.  Health Physics is a profession that protects people and the environment from radiation hazards while still allowing for the beneficial uses of radiation.

You will report to the Instrument and Dosimetry Manager and will manage all daily radiological activities within the Health Physics Dosimetry Laboratory (HPDL). Provide oversight and leadership of HPDL.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide oversight of the Personnel, Direct Radiobioassay, Indirect Radiobioassay, and Internal Dosimetry programs. Responsible to:
    • Ensure Technical Leads maintain programs following BEA procedures and plans.
    • Ensure dosimetry procedures and plans comply with DOE regulations, orders, and standards; specifically, the Department of Energy Laboratory Accreditation Program (DOELAP).
    • Recommend changes to departmental and lab-wide policies and  procedures .
    • Help develop overall goals of the department and possibly the division.
  • Work with Technical Leads to evaluate dosimetry processes for opportunities for efficiency improvements.  Coordinate improvement initiatives  including planning and funding.
  • You will provide direction for the daily activities of Dosimetry Technicians, Dosimetry Specialists, and Technical Leads.  Provide organizational leadership for staff regarding work assignments, work performance and technical guidance. Provide interface with facility radiological control management to ensure program success.
  • Ensure Dosimetry program compliance by providing guidance to radiological workers and Radiological Controls personnel according to regulations and program procedures.
  • Implement financials, business planning, and organizational priorities. Ensure that budgets, schedules, and performance standards are realistically set and attained.
  • Institutionalize an environment and culture which motivates staff to commit to a safe, secure and radiologically compliant operation. Obtain and integrate feedback from employees concerning safety, health, quality and environmental issues for specific activities and lessons learned.
  • Provide strategic direction in the development of performance indicators. Monitor and evaluate performance metrics to identify areas needing improvement and identify adverse trends. Lead in conducting self-assessment for all assigned stewardship responsibilities consistent with laboratory assessment guidance. Provide leadership in the implementation of corrective action plans and paths to excellence.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in chemistry, biology, health physics, or closely related field plus 5 years relevant experience or Advanced Degree and 3 years relevant experience. 
  • Two (2) years leadership experience.


Desired Education and Certifications: 

  • American Board of Health Physics (ABHP) professional certification in the field of Health Physics (CHP)


Job Information: 

  • The target pay range for this position is $115,285 - $175,922 annually.  The full pay range is $89,652 - $215,160 . At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
